CHICK ORDERS PLACED NOW ARE FOR SPRING OF 2025

CHICK ORDERS PLACED NOW ARE FOR SPRING OF 2025

There is a minimum order of 5 chicks for local pick up. We do not ship live birds. Most breeds are sold straight run. There are only THREE breeds that we can sex as a chick: Bielefelders, Cream Legbars, and Plymouth Rocks, which are autosexed. Orders are fulfilled in the order which they are received, and this can take a little time. We recommend practicing good husbandry to your chicks, maintaining feeders and waterers clean; specially the water. Chicks should have access to fresh water daily. Bedding is also very important. If you use paper towels, it should be changed out at least once in the morning and once in the evening. We recommend feeding non medicated starter-grower 20% protein. Medicated feed depletes the chicks from a important vitamin B, causing debilitating health problems such as wry neck. Please check our farm policies before placing your order.

Please be patient as we fill orders. Keep in mind, we are working with live animals not fast food.  We work on their schedule. All sales are final.

After you place your order, we will contact you with an anticipated availability date for your chicks. Due to our work schedule and Marek’s vaccination program, all hatches are planned to occur every 3-4 weeks, so we may have your chicks in the brooder, still incubating, or 3-4 weeks away from incubating. We will let you know and reach out to you when your chicks have hatched and are ready to go home.

Bielefelder

Our flock comprises of birds that derive from the original 2011 and 2013 imports. They have no white earlobes. The hens are super friendly. They follow me around and seek my attention. The roosters are gentle giants. They love to forage but also bear confinement well. Chicks are autosexed at hatch, meaning male and female are easily distinguishable. Bielefelders are one of the best chickens you ever going to own. They are an autosexed breed that serves a dual purpose in the homestead. The hens lay large to extra-large tan eggs and the males dress well as early as 15 weeks. Another plus of owning Bielefelders is their wonderful, docile temperament. The roosters are super friendly and the hens also make great pets. Our chicks start at $20 for females and $5 for males. Fertile eggs start at $30.

Buff Laced White Polish

Quite gracious and stunning to look at, the Buff laced polish is the only variety of polish we raise. They are quiet pleasing to the eye and are very interesting to observe. Hens are are friendly and docile but their “hats” can obstruct their vision, making them timid and easily startled . Hens are excellent producers of medium sized white eggs. Our rooster Cocco is vigorous and very protective of his hens which is why we love him. Our Polish start at $18 per chick and are sold unsexed. Fertile eggs start at $30.

BBS Ameraucana

The BBS Ameraucana is our most popular chickens. For newbies, BBS stands for blue, black, and splash. We are proud to own Paul Smith and The Gipsy Hen (former owner Rachel) birds as our foundational flock. Since then, we have continued their great work and have developed our own lines of BBS Americuana. We currently set up our pens by color, so when ordering hatching eggs, you will a mix from all three pens. Likewise, when you order chicks from us, you may get a clutch of all three colors. These are large fowl, laying 250 - 280 large eggs in various shades of blue, including blueish green. Very docile and gentle chickens. We are members of The Ameraucana Breeder Club and breed to SOP. Chicks start out at $18. Fertile eggs start at $45.

BBS Americuanas bred to SOP

Black Copper Maran

Black Copper Marans are among my favorite breeds of all time. Besides their stunning appearance, their dark chocolate color eggs makes our egg cartons stand out. We have sourced our foundation from a few U.S. renowned breeders flock in 2018 and have worked continuously to improve and preserve it’s original traits of appearance and egg color. We focus on health and conformation over egg color. Our BCM eggs dark shade varies between 6-8 on the Maran Club Chart. We selectively choose birds that are the closest to the SOP as possible for our breeding program. Black Copper Marans are lay an average of 280 eggs a year. Shade varies throughout the season. Our chicks start at $15 and are sold unsexed and fertile eggs start at $45.

Buff Orpington

Our Buff Orpingtons are remarkably striking and beautiful; nothing like the ones found at the local feed store. Their plumage is rich orange gold and lustrous. The whole flock exhibits a warm and docile temperament. They are quiet and calm. Makes a great addition to families with your ng children. Hens are great layers of medium sized to large tan eggs. We were quiet fortunate to find a reliable source for quality buff orpingtons. We are currently running fertility checks and accepting pre-orders for chicks and hatching eggs. Day old chicks are priced at $12 each and sold unsexed. Fertile eggs start at $45.

Cream Legbar

Cream Legbars are a must have chicken if you like chickens that are active, chatty, and outstanding foragers. Among their prime benefits, are the autosexed chicks, large blue eggs, and all climate tolerant attributes make the Cream Legbar a very desirable chicken to own. Our flocks comprise of very active, and yet well-tempered birds with great disposition. The chicks are healthy and full of vigor. Cream Legbars are also productive most of the year. Our chicks start at $18 for females and $5 for males.

Dark Cornish

The Dark Cornish has continuously proven to be a great addition to our breeding program. I wish I had known about them from the start of our operation. For starters, this is a heritage breed, recognized by the APA. Other varieties include white-red laced, white, and buff. Dark is the only variety we raise. We do not have a show quality stock which is very difficult and expensive to acquire. I enjoy building from scratch, so I sourced my stock from a well known hatchery I trust. I have been working diligently to improve and preserve the breed’s original traits by selectively breeding them and have made great progress so far.

Delaware

I cannot begin to describe how much I love this breed. Delawares were once the main broilers before the Cornish Cross was developed; nonetheless, they continued to be an excellent dual-purpose chicken. One of the many things I personally love about this breed is their temperament. The roosters are so affectionate. Both hens and roosters love to explore and follow their humans around. Hens are wonderful layers of large to jumbo eggs. Another great attribute of this breed is that they are a healthy breed. Females grow up to 6 pounds and males weight up to 8-9 pounds. We are working hard to grow our starter flock and hope to be offering hatching eggs soon and baby chicks by the spring of 2024

Heritage Rhode Island Red

This is one must have heritage breed in any backyard flock. One of the best dual purpose chickens that is. Their gene provides a foundation to many other breeds, such as the hybrid red sexlink. Did you know that if you cross a Rhode Island with a Plymouth Rock, you get a black sexlink? A Rhode Island Crossed with a Delaware will result in a beautiful and highly productive Red Sexlink! Our hens are great layers. Our line lays shades of rouge color eggs. Eggs are large to extra-large. Both roosters and hens displays a gentle disposition. They are very laid back and are easy to maintain. Great foragers too.

Heritage Plymouth Rock

This is the old heritage Imperial Ringlet line, also known as Plymouth Rocks. I consider this to be one of the best dual purpose chickens there is. Both male and females are well-mannered and easy going. The hens are good layers of large to extra-large eggs. One of their main attributes is that they are a hardy chicken, especially during cold weather. They are also very pleasing to the eye. I love that notorious zebra line pattern on their feathers.

Isbar (Silverudd)

Pronounced as “ice-bar” this heritage rare breed originates from Sweden. Isbars are extremely docile and very productive most of the year. The hens are excellent producers of moss green eggs. The roosters are gentle and amorous. Both male and female are very productive besides making wonderful pets. We have been under their spell since 2018. Our line produces a moss green with speckles on it. We have all three colors in one pen. Our flock has a mix of black, blue, and splash hens with a blue silver and a splash roosters. Chicks from the fertile eggs you get from us may hatch splash, blue, and black colors. Isbars cost $25 per chick and are sold unsexed. Fertile eggs start at $50. Our hens lay an average of 280 eggs a year, if not more. Breeders looking for new blood, please read our disclosure concerning the homozygous (O/O gene) status of our current breeding flock BEFORE purchasing chicks or eggs.

Salmon Faverolle

Salmon Faverolles are among the favorites at our farm. They are a joy to raise and they are a dual purpose large fowl chicken breed. The hens are excellent layers of of medium size salmon color eggs. They lay mostly the entire year, except during molt. The hens are quite chatty and mesmerizing with their fluffy bodies and fat muffed chicks. They are the comedians of our backyard flock. They are very docile, curious, and adventurous chickens. Hens are highly productive; the most productive at our farm. They are usually the first ones to start and the last ones to finish. They take a relatively short break before start laying again. Salmon Faverolles are must! The males have a stunning appearance and also make great dinners as early as 15 weeks (their leg quarters are tender and tasty!) The boys are romantics. They make me smile every morning when I come to to see them. They do the feather dance for me. If you want a stunning breed who is friendly and make great dinners, the Salmon Faverolle is one breed to consider!

Self Blue Ameraucanas

Ameraucana is a stunning breed of muffed, bearded, and tailed chickens that lay blue eggs. Ameraucana is one of the friendliest chicken breeds you can own. Their pea comb makes them the ideal poultry to raise in both hot and cold climates. Ameraucanas are extremely hardy and healthy chickens. You can expect 4-5 eggs per week out of your hens. We are proud to own Paul Smith lines as our foundational flock. We have been members of the Americuana Breeders Club since 2019 and breed our Americuanas to meet the standard of perfection (SOP). We breed for conformation, egg color, and temperament. Chicks are sold unsexed. Minimum order of 5 (five) chicks for local pick up. Our Self-Blue Americuanas start at $25 per chick and fertile eggs start at $45.

Serama

The smallest chickens in world! The Serama chicken originates from Malaysia. I call them “tiny soldiers.” They are full of personality. The roosters make the best home pets. They are full of personality and sass! With proper training Seramas can be conditioned to show off their chests on a table top. Seramas are a joy to keep. They are very easy to maintain, and with the right feeder, lower cost in feeding as well. We are members of SCNA club. Our foundational stock comes from a few of the SCNA members. In 2023 -2024, we acquired some beautiful pairs directly from the original importer to diversify and further improve our bloodlines. It is very rare for us to offer Serama, given their degree of vulnerability . The chicks are a tad bigger than a quail when born and they have different needs than do the regular chicks, so we choose to raise them till 4-5 months, when they are banded and sold in pairs.

Silkie

These are the divas of the chicken world! They are a lot of fun and joy to raise. We raise bearded and crested silkies. I only have two color pens: The project red and whites. They are friendly, docile, funny, and super sassy, especially the boys. They are the best! Silkie hens have a tendency to go broody no matter the season of the year. They lay about 130-160 eggs a year. We sourced our stock from two master exhibition breeders in Florida.

Swedish Flower Hen

If you are looking for great layer of large and extra eggs, who are super friendly, outgoing, and eye candy, the Swedish Flower Hen is a must have in your backyard flock. Speaking from my own experience with this breed, it is one of my favorites in terms of temperament. They are calm, confident, and poised. The females are extremely curious and inquisitive. They love the outdoors and exploring the world around them, but they also bear confinement well. The males are pretty much the same. They are chilled while being great protectors of their flock.

Wheaten Maran

Wheaten’s are my second favorite variety of Marans. The hens are highly productive and full of vigor. My line lays almost as dark as the Black copper Marans and a few of my hens lay dark chocolate speckled. They have a gentle disposition and love to forage and explore when given the opportunity. We are able to sex our Wheaten Marans as early as 3-4 four weeks as the feather coloring are clearly distinguishable. We are proud to have sourced our foundational flock from Maran’s Unlimited and The Gipsy Hen (under the leadership of former owner Rachel). Our chicks start at $15 and fertile eggs at $45.
