$18.00

Please read the description in its entirety before ordering. All day old chick orders are pre-orders!

All orders of chicks and hatching eggs are pre-orders. You will receive a text or email from us when your order is ready for pick up or being shipped. We do not ship chicks; only eggs! Baby chicks have to be picked up locally. To place an order, select the quantity desired and add to the cart. We have a minimum order of 5 chicks. When you place your order we will contact to you let you know when we are setting the eggs for your chicks and give you an anticipated hatch date. When your chicks hatch, we vaccinate them, unless requested otherwise, and reach out to you to schedule your appointment for pick up.

Once you are notified that your birds are ready for check out, it is up to you to have their brooder ready and make arrangements to pick them up by the deadline agreed upon. Should life happens and you are not able to take care of the birds you pre-ordered, we will give you credit for the amount paid up-to-date for a future purchase. Please understand we are not able to refund any orders/pre-orders. The only time, a refund applies is when we are not able to deliver the product (Ex. theft, fertility issues, hatch rate issue, fire, flock demise, bird illness, death of breeder, etc). There is a $5 fee for each bird, each day that is here past the deadline. No exceptions. You must order a minimum of 5 chicks and no more than 10. If you want to order more than 10 chicks, please reach out to me first at (352) 467-2600 (leave a text-message please).

A fee of $20 is added to any order that does not meet the minimum purchase requirement. This fee will be collected during pickup. Orders are filled by the order in which payment is received. Please allow up to 48 hours to hear back from us, especially if you are ordering on a Friday night or over the weekend. Appointments are scheduled for Saturdays most of the year. If you are ordering on a Saturday and expecting to pick up on the same day, please note available slots fill up quickly during the week, so sometimes, we are fully booked on Saturdays. Please wait to hear back from us before heading to our farm. We will contact you within 48 hours to schedule your pick up or anticipated pick up date, depending on the birds’ age group you purchased.

Feeding: We recommend feeding non-medicated starter grower 20%. We recommend Swans Feed Mill in Zephyrhills. The feed is freshly milled and much better quality than what it is offered at the store, even though it is conventional feed.

Vaccination Policy

We make no guarantee that the vaccinations will protect your poultry 100% from getting the disease, but it is a good preventative step. Marek's vaccine is an injection and will not be noticeable on the chicks.

Cancellation/Return Policy

If life happens and you decide to cancel an order that has not yet been filled, you will receive the full amount in store credit. We do not issue refunds, unless we are not able to fulfill an order for reasons outside of our control.

 About our Silkies

We are very proud of our Silkies. We have acquired our breeding stock from two master exhibitors and professional Silkie breeders in the State of Florida. We currently have two pens. One with solid whites, which is a standard APA recognized color. The other one is my red pen, which is not an APA recognized color. Red is a project color in Silkies. What I love about them and have learned from my own experience working with this color is that I can hatch other colors too, such as NSV (non-standard variety) and Patridge. NSV color Silkies can be shown and entered in shows as such.

Silkies are the divas of the chicken world. They originate from China. There is a great deal of information about the Silkie in ancient Chinese writings—eastern cultures have always believed the Silkie to have medicinal powers beyond any other chicken breed. That belief is justified: recent studies have discovered that the Silkie produces more carnosine, an important anti-oxidant, than other poultry. It is for this reason that Silkies are still used widely today in Chinese medicines. The first western recording of a Silkie sighting was by Marco Polo, 1928. He marveled about seeing a bird with black skin and “hair like a cat” on his travels to China. It’s thought that he took some Silkies with him and was the first person to introduce them to the western world. In the early 1900s, Silkies were exploited in travelling circuses and side-shows as “freaks’, described as “Chickens with fur instead of feathers.”

Silkies are ornamental chickens and should not be kept with large fowl breeds as they could become object of harassment by other breeds.

Female Silkies make great mothers. They love to sit on eggs and hatch them. They make great mothers as well. Male Silkies are charming and full of sassiness. They will do anything to protect their females. It is actually cute to watch how they court and protect. Male Silkies make excellent pets.

Silkie chickens are for you if :

  1. You're just starting out with chickens and you're prepared to take good care that they don't get cold or wet.

  2. You want a friendly first chicken for your children or a companion for yourself.

  3. You have a fairly small area, or you can't let your girls free range at all and need to keep them in a coop.

  4. You're thinking of keeping a chicken (or two) in an apartment.

  5. You want a bird who will be a "mother hen" to lots of little chickens - no matter whose they are!

You shouldn't buy Silkies if :

  1. You live somewhere cold, wet and muddy.

  2. You want a hen who will lay eggs but not go broody over them (although there are ways to stop a hen who's 'gone broody').

  3. You're thinking of keeping chickens for meat.

Silkies lay about 160-180 eggs per year. Their eggs are off white and small.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • First and foremost, there are no refunds, no returns, and no replacements on any hatching egg orders, FOR ANY REASON, whatsoever.

  • You may have 0% -100% hatch rate from the eggs you receive from me.

  • In addition to the above, you understand that, in general, shipped eggs may not develop due to factors outside my control. You should candle the eggs upon arrival to inspect the air sac cells. It is recommended that shipped eggs rest for 12 hours to allow shook up air cells a chance to settle and possibly reattach. If air cells become damaged, embryo development is doomed.

  • You should candle the eggs upon arrival to inspect the air sac cells. It is recommended that shipped eggs rest for 12 hours to allow shook up air cells a chance to settle and possibly reattach.

  • Please take the time to educate yourself about fertile chicken eggs. Just because the embryo fails to develop, it does not mean the egg was not fertile. Eggs must be kept under the right condition in order to fertilize (It is always a good idea to check your incubator for cold spots periodically).

  • The only way to check for fertility is to crack one of the eggs to locate the bullseye (the blastocyst).

  • We are NPIP and follow NPIP guidelines. We file and submit a VS 9-3 form for all of our shipped orders, even if within the State of Florida.

  •  When you purchase eggs through the mail you understand there are risks involved and when you complete your purchase, you have accepted these terms and conditions.

  • Handling time can be anywhere between 3 - 10 business days. Sometimes, it can take longer, depending on the number of orders between eBay, local, and the farm website. I strive to ship every order as soon as possible, but keep in mind we work with animals. Animals are unpredictable. We work with small flocks. Eggs are shipped fresh. Your oldest egg won't be older than 72 hours prior to shipping.

  • Your eggs will arrive safely and unbroken; free of any deformities. Only the best eggs are chosen for your incubator. Each egg is carefully inspected for cracks and detached air cells prior to packaging. Every package sent is the best it can possibly be. The eggs I sent to you are packaged with love and care.

  • If you receive broken eggs , please send me an email or text message with pictures. Pictures are a MUST.

  • Please understand that I do not return messages about hatch rate. There is nothing I can or will do to remediate the issue. I can't refund you for service that has been rendered. I won’t reship, unless paid for a full set, or authorize a return.

  • I can't guarantee hatch rate outside my farm for numerous factors: the environment, the machine, the practice, detached air sacs during transit, just to name a few. Just place me on your "no buy again list" and move on.

  • Please note we cannot predict when our hens want to take a break. Just like us, they have good days and bad days as well. If I cannot fill your order due to broodiness, molt, heat, or any other factor that affects laying, I will contact you and cancel your order, issuing a full refund.

  • If you can’t accept these terms and conditions please find another breeder.
